Vestige
"Vestige" is a series of metallic surfaces for walls and foodstuffs, which seeks to highlight the textures that metal acquires when exposed to fire. For these surfaces, copper, bronze, alpaca and Merlin (10% copper and silver alloy) sheets worked with the reticulated technique, patinated Cr iron sheets and the residue of oxy-cutting (cutting metal with hydrogen) were used.
"Vestige" emerges from the essence of the colonial era that is hidden in the pages of Gabriel García Márquez's book "Del amor y otros demonios" (Of Love and Other Demons). Just like the Santa Clara convent in history, the houses of Cartagena hide the traces of all those who inhabited it, preserving the colonial spirit of this city. In Cartagena different races and cultures were mixed, from the Spanish settlers to the African slaves, who, despite being foreigners in these lands, impregnated them with their essence and culture. These pieces reflect the mixture of races through the use of different metals, which bear the traces of fire and wear with the passage of time.
